As an artist, entrepreneur, Yaman Shao believes that art brings hope. She founded ALIEN Art and ALIEN Art Centre, whose visual identity is a door to the unknown; the name “ALIEN” comes from a magical moment as in the “E.T. phone home” finger touch, similar to an intersection where all the imaginary realms meet; echoing the belief in the void where there is a force that leads everyone forward.

Yaman Shao acquired the abandoned historical site - Kin-Ma Military Hostel in 2016, and drafted the blueprint of renovation with her own hands, turning the ruins into a contemporary art museum – ALIEN Art Centre in 2018. Till now, she has curated 39 exhibitions, with the aim to (i) evoke social awareness to originality, so to support the young creative minds, (ii) re-discover art history, transforming the context into a mirror that sheds light on contemporary development, (iii) co-build the future for the development of contemporary art.

Yaman Shao collaborates with artists across borders. Through participation, discussion with artists, constructing the cultural scene that connects the world, she re-defines and shapes the way art develops, bringing together art practitioners from different disciplines to conceive a new form of life with a blend of art.
