/ ARMAN:Portrait of a Sculptor

Documentary film directed by Dominik Rimbault

About the
exhibition

Documentary film directed by Dominik Rimbault in 1997.

This comprehensive film explores the career of Arman and the development of his prolific work, shared between his studios of Vence (Southern France) and New York. The long interviews of the artist focus on the introduction of the daily “things” in the artwork process, a way to invent a new medium of visual creation. We see Arman working in his studio on several pieces. Arman discusses with some of his close friends, such as the art historian Pierre Restany, the co-founder of the Nouveau réalisme movement.
