"BELIEVING IS SEEING" employs Generative Fill technology to redefine the authenticity of light, in the context of the emergence of Artificial Intelligence and its new technique, Generative Fill. This technique can conjure content from a preexisting image, extending it outward from a void within the AI's domain. Thus, the artwork utilizes actual photographs as proofs of memory while generating the non-existent voids in the photos. Through the principles of photographic optics, these non-existent areas are imaged within the realm of light – invisible in reality, yet unveiled in the virtual. Just as a plethora of AI-generated content now thrives on the internet, has reality been supplanted by the virtual?

In the past, photography has always been regarded as a documentary medium that captures images of the real world, serving as tangible evidence of existence. However, with the rapid development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology, we find ourselves in an era of information explosion, confronting a multitude of images and information daily. How do we distinguish between reality and fiction? Hsieh Yu Ting
Hsieh Yu Ting (b. 1999 in Taichung) is currently studying at the Graduate Institute of Animation and Film Art of TNNUA, majoring in interactive media. Her artistic process involves photography, video installation, and video as media, to express her thoughts on various subjects and her relationships with people and the environment in everyday life. She explores whether the representation of images through different media affects their nature and reflects on the relationship between the virtual and the real, the digital and the analog.
In an era of rapid technological development, copying, sharing and transmitting has
become a simple task, making people forget to think about the subtle changes
between things.
