Grand Tour — Vito Nesta

Grand Tour comes from Vito Nesta’s experience touring around the world, as he draws elements from different places for creations. Examples include Las Palmas, featuring colors of tropical paradise of coconuts, and there is the Cabinet de Curiosités series. These pieces show Nesta’s methods for infusing fun into everyday life with childlike features.
“My work starts with stories. I immerse myself in them and then tell the stories," said Nesta.
Born in 1987, Vito Nesta obtained a degree in interior design in Florence and started out his journey in interior decoration after staying in London for a while. His first collection was dedicated to his grandmother, who used to be a seamstress. The pieces gave off a strong romantic vibe and traces of nostalgia.
Working also as an interior designer, Nesta creates objects that come with stories. These creations bring out a new visual world where reality and imagination collide, which generates creativity that draws people to immerse themselves in that world.

The History of Murano Glass

Murano Island in Italy is renowned worldwide for its highly intricate and precious Murano glass craftsmanship. Traditional handmade Murano Glass requires five meticulous processes, including high-temperature melting, manual blowing, pulling, silver foiling/decoration, and unique color blending techniques. Each step challenges the experience and skill of the artisans. Becoming a master of glass takes at least 20 years of learning. As a result, the Serenissima Republic of ancient Venice implemented strict regulations to prevent the outflow of the craft. Without official permission, leaving Murano Island was strictly prohibited. This ensures the development of Murano Glass craftsmanship respected true traditions, making it a world-renowned center for glass production with exceptional craftsmanship.

Murano Glass is famous for its vibrant colors, complex patterns, and unique shapes. Only glass produced on the island of Murano in Venice, Italy, can be called Murano Glass. Similar to the “Swiss Made” inscription on a watch, which signifies that not only the caliber but also over 60% of its technical value comes from Switzerland, Murano Glass represents the pinnacle of Italian craftsmanship. It has received recognition from generations of connoisseurs and is highly valued by collectors around the world. Since the early 16th century, Murano Glass has been cherished by royal families and nobility of various countries. Its historic art pieces are now treasured in major museums all over the world.
