—— —— Discourse on Video Sandbox VI: Indifferent dreams, alike —— ——

The juxtaposition of two video tracks, invites the audience to experience the difference between the reality and the imaginary, such that internal sense of time, flow consciously free, and memories are just syntheses of the intertwined.

The story narrative is expressed through two video tracks, and the audience is welcome to project their own experience and emotion onto a projection of their own, objective observation becomes impossible, what is imaginary and reality are both subjective and possibly true.

When the protagonists encounter for the first time, such fate symbolizes the start of the art work becoming conscious, then the two tracks initiate and project the internalization of the protagonists’ inner self. It is through the two worlds and the non-image, that leaves an invitation for the audience to extend and expand meaning in the narrative with themselves.

Huang Tzu Ting
Born in 1997. Huang Tzu Ting is currently studying at the Graduate Institute of Animation and Film Art of Tainan National University of the Arts. Tzu Ting. Her art works are narratives making use of video recording with images. Growing up fascinated with literature and motion pictures, in her dreams, the space and time within it is particularly an important source of her artistic process.

Making metaphors of daily life struggles or mind wandering, rather than guiding the audience in an active sequential script, Tzu Ting prefers to let the audience feel the existence of slices of life that go within our consciousness. Making thoughts with images without accuracy, a little more relatable, is a major part of her process. That is how to trigger our consciousness in dreams with motion images. As in all art, negative spaces are elements to invite the audience to fill the gap themselves. In her art, negative space in motion pictures, is the non-use of a medium, experienced such that the audience reflects on the relationship between consciousness and images, how our perceptions and cognitions relate to our consciousness.
