"Alienation" draws from the concept of alienation, as defined by Karl Marx. After the Industrial Revolution, humans, as laborers, became disconnected from the process and goals of our labor. This disconnection turned humans from subjects into objects, losing their subjectivity. In the state of alienation, how can we reclaim our subjectivity? How can humans find balance within the structures?
"Body War" continues the exploration of the loss of subjectivity and the pathological experiences introduced in "Alienation". Is it possible for individuals to reclaim their subjectivity and, through the reconstruction of consciousness, establish a new perception of the body? The phrase "All phenomena are like a dream, an illusion, a bubble, a shadow, like dew or a flash of lightning; thus should you see them" suggests that all perceptions might be illusions constructed by consciousness. After being reconstructed by the world, where does the "reality" exist—in the body, the mind, or the brain?

Chen Yu-wei
Chen Yu-wei has served as the administrative and executive coordinator for the 8th and 9th Taiwan International Queer Film Festivals. He is currently studying at the Graduate Institute of Animation and Film Art at Tainan National University of the Arts. His works and experiences span between video/experimental film and narrative film. Influenced by his life experiences, Chen focuses on themes such as "body perception," "existence," Through his creative and practical processes, he believes that art should be a form of breakthrough and liberation, guiding both himself and the audience towards greater possibilities and freedom.
