The Phenomenon of Spirit — Light-Sculpture Painting Exhibition
Taiwan is often described as having the highest density of religious architecture in the world. If temples can be seen as embodiments of a city’s collective faith, then the Yuan Chen Palace represents the reflection of one’s own spiritual state. Yuan Chen—also known as the Original Spirit—is the dwelling place of the soul, a manifestation of the subconscious that mirrors one’s truest spiritual condition, guiding the viewer into a mysterious inner world.
Imitating Nature × Artificial Light and Shadow
When plants and still objects shift within the interplay of light and shadow, the scene before our eyes becomes both visible and invisible—like the dwelling place of the soul itself. This corresponds to the French postmodern philosopher Maurice Merleau-Ponty’s concept of embodiment: through the body we discern truth, through the senses we perceive nature, and through spirituality we contemplate the inner self. The body is the field where spirit and perception converge—so where, then, does the intangible soul reside?
Virtual World vs. Yuan Chen Palace
With the advent of the AI era and the intervention of artificial intelligence, we have created countless virtual worlds through technological progress. Yet within each of us exists an unseen, untouchable virtual world of our own ⸻ the Yuan Chen Palace.

Wu Yu-Huei
Using technological art in combination with traditional painting, Wu Yu-Hui creates “Light-Sculpture Paintings” that feature dynamic visual, sound, and light effects. Her works integrate cutting-edge AIGC technology with classical visual aesthetics, connecting the past and present, the real and the virtual through video installations. This fusion allows viewers to experience a deeper sensory engagement through sight, sound, and emotion. Owing to the diversity of media, the digital format presents intricate and delicate visual effects, merging moving images with visual design techniques to trace back to one’s inner emotions and self-awareness.
