Maurice Merleau-Ponty argued that the body is not merely a tool for seeing the world, but the means through which we experience it. If perception is embodied, might sculpture also come into being through the encounter between body and object?

Sculpture in Motion explores how art is activated through human participation. Jiro Kamata, born into a Japanese jewellery family, challenges the idea that rarity defines value, developing a distinctive language through optical materials. Grace Wong, raised in a synthetic materials industry family, turns to the vitality of natural leather, transforming its softness and resilience into creative expression. Both artists re-examine materiality through their own backgrounds and use making as a way of understanding the world.

The exhibition unfolds through four themes: Material and Method, Form and Meaning, Body and Object, Innovation and Sustainability. It asks how applied art may be valued beyond rarity, craftsmanship, and function—through bodily experience, emotional memory, and ways of seeing.
