/ 2025 Video Sandbox – Video Art Creator Contest

“ALIEN Art Centre—Video Sandbox” is a National Video Art Creator Contest that marks the sixth anniversary of the establishment of the centre, open to contemporary artists under the age of 40 (including). Co-organized by ALIEN Art Centre CEO Yaman Shao and the project director HE-LIN LUO, the project is titled “Video Sandbox”, whose vision is to provide a stage for emerging talents to thrive and prosper. Submissions will be presented at the exhibition room named “Memory,” which served as a telegraph room in the first floor of the original Kin-Ma Military Hostel building (now ALIEN Art Centre) back in the day. The Sandbox is the exhibition unit, with the universe displayed in virtual space that makes up the world through images.

Since its founding over six years ago, the ALIEN Art Centre has remained committed to supporting emerging local artists. Since the launch of the " Video Sandbox", the ALIEN Art Centre has discovered numerous outstanding creators working with diverse forms of visual media, including Yu-Ting Tsai, Pei-Ting HSIEH, Hu Ching Chuan, and Huang Tzu Ting, among past selected artists. Their works blend various mediums such as digital imagery, video installations, and experimental film. These creations have not only gained prominence in major domestic art exhibitions but have also received international recognition and invitations to art festivals, showcasing Taiwan's rich creative energy and its potential for global artistic development.

This year's project integrates even more cross-disciplinary resources. In addition to continuing its collaboration with the Graduate Institute of Animation and Film Art at Tainan National University of the Arts, it has also partnered with the Graduate Institute of Transdisciplinary Art of the National Kaohsiung Normal University College of Arts. These partnerships aim to enhance the academic depth and artistic practice of the project. By inviting submissions from visual and interactive artists nationwide, the program aspires to introduce the public to the sensory possibilities awakened by multimedia art.
