That film is now ruined, but I kept it and restored it in 16 mm. Only a few years ago, I loaned it to an avant-garde film magazine, This is Film. One of the editors, Kenichi Harada, told me that you could see the Emperor Hirohito in the movie. I was amazed. The Gutai art movement eliminated all political and literary ideas from their work and focused only on the material. So what was all this about the Emperor? Looking carefully at the films I remembered that when I had washed them with vinegar, I’d done it quite roughly, so we were left with some news coverage regarding the Emperor.

Life grows and matures due to clashes, and it also produces beautiful melodies because of meetings of fate. On Friday night, September 6th, we were fortunate enough to invite “the musician who can do as she pleases, who has a mastery over the piano, Kaiyin Huang,” to bring us the harmonious sounds that play with each key stroke after the clash between Eastern and Western cultures, a journey of cultural exchanges through music.

Der rote Faden – the theme of contemporary jewellery held by the ALIEN Art Centre for the artist – Franz Bette. The phrase Der rote Faden has meaning for artists who try to use the "value" of art to stimulate our minds, and then let such speculations produce qualitative changes. I think in such a rich and selective era, "value" has become the standard for us to measure things, but what is the value in our lives? Perhaps we can re-explore and reflect through this Franz Bette solo exhibition.
