Lai Chih-Sheng’s works opt to leave appearance to transformation through the process. The truth to which appearance refers is the spiritual understanding that is not normally unfamiliar to us, yet that we usually have no chance to ruminate upon.

" I don’t believe in inspiration. I would describe it as a discipline. A continuous discipline, starting from 8 o’clock at the morning, like any other work... I work with resin; it is a very noble material. It is the end product of the petroleum… always materials that come from the ground. I believe I am a grounded, earthy person… the picture lives by itself, and it does not need the artist. What makes me happy, is being like when I was a child, and seeing something without knowing how it comes about. La meraviglia, the amazement." -Robert Pan

In the 17th Century, Isaac Newton discovered that prism could divide lights into different colors due to dispersion effect. Based on RGB color model, this exhibition adds shades and wavelength on top of spatial and historical axes. Artists Luo Yijun, Gao Yating and Tang Yawen respond to history and southern images of the venue. The exhibition functions like a prism in the architecture. Artists put historical trade incidents, contexts and unseen personal moments into their works, and transform into new colors and perspectives.

" I’ve always believed, the man of good quality are born with mission, even they have never sensed the mission, their deeds are good enough to tie themselves with the mission. The tide raised by the mystery will include people from the world in resembling, gathering, the strong power thus rolls into ideal step by step. And I just can’t but say, in the field of photography, I’ve never encountered such man craving in presenting the power and the depth of photography."
